Moderating your online debate on Bpart

The moderation module of your Bpart platform helps you keep your online debate both safe and lively. Since September 2026, you choose per project how you moderate: beforehand (pre-moderation) or afterwards, with AI as a safety net (post-moderation). This article gives you the overview; use the links below to dive deeper into each part.

What's new?

From the very beginning, Bpart worked with pre-moderation: every entry was first reviewed and only then published. This way of working remains and keeps all its advantages.

You can now also choose post-moderation. The logic then flips: a participant's entry goes online immediately, unless artificial intelligence flags it as potentially inappropriate. In that case it is held back and appears in your moderation list, so you can review it.

Think of it this way: with post-moderation, AI performs the first safety check (on language and toxicity), and you as moderator keep the final say.

Pre- or post-moderation: which do you choose?

Neither is better than the other — the process determines the tool. For a sensitive or political topic you often want control beforehand; for a low-threshold project with many entries, post-moderation keeps the debate lively and your workload manageable.

The role of AI in your online debate

Artificial intelligence supports you in several places on the platform, each time with a different purpose:

  • While writing (nudging): participants get live feedback to write respectfully and with enough substance. This nudging blocks nothing: participants can always submit their entry. Read more about nudging.
  • On submission (moderation): in post-moderation, AI determines whether an entry may go online immediately or first needs your confirmation.
  • During follow-up (analysis): AI helps you summarise and theme entries.

Good to know:

  • AI is a tool, not an absolute truth. The final decision is always yours. In both pre- and post-moderation you can still publish or take any entry offline.
  • AI checks language and toxicity, not relevance. A neatly written entry that has nothing to do with your topic will simply get through. Reading entries now and then remains useful: not only to catch what's inappropriate, but also to sense what's going on.
  • AI support is included in every Bpart licence: no credit system, no extra cost.
