Starting with moderation

Through the moderation module of your Bpart platform you manage your online debate: you moderate comments and entries from users or participants. With Bpart, you choose per project how you moderate: beforehand (pre-moderation) or afterwards with AI as a safety net (post-moderation). Read all about the moderation flow here.


You'll find the moderation module in your menu, where we distinguish between:


  1. Entries, these are contributions submitted via a topic or theme
  2. Comments, these are reactions to published entries
  3. Templates for your moderation e-mails or notifications
  4. Tags, statuses and moderation notes for the analysis of your online debate


The starting point: moderation on your dashboard


On your project dashboard you'll find your moderation inbox. At a glance you see


  • the number of entries in your project, published versus not published
  • the number of comments in your project, published versus not published
  • moderation tasks: the number of comments you'd best take a look at


Click on moderate entries, moderate comments or your moderation tasks to get started!

Moderate entries


A newly submitted entry has two underlying labels: visibility (visible or not visible) and moderation status (moderated or not moderated). A new entry is always not moderated, so it appears in your "to moderate" overview. Whether it's also immediately visible depends on your moderation mode:


  • Pre-moderation: the entry is not visible and not moderated, so it waits for your approval before going online.
  • Post-moderation: a non-toxic entry goes online immediately (visible), an entry flagged by AI as potentially inappropriate is held back (not visible). Both are not moderated and therefore appear in your overview.


Use the filters at the top of the screen to adjust this overview and find other entries. You can filter on visibility, moderation status, tags, topics or keywords (author, id or content).

Moderate comments


When a participant submits a comment, it does appear on the platform immediately. Bpart (AI) or other users can report a comment as potentially inappropriate: behind the scenes, a newly submitted comment therefore has three labels:


  • Visible
  • Not moderated
  • Potentially not inappropriate, or potentially inappropriate


Comments that are potentially inappropriate appear as moderation tasks on your dashboard, and on your start screen when moderating comments. These are, in other words, comments that Bpart (AI) or other users think should be looked at. You'll find all other comments via similar filters on the second tab of the moderation module for comments.
