Starting with moderation

Through the moderation module of your Bpart platform, you manage your online debate: you review and moderate entries and comments submitted by users or participants.

You can find the moderation module in your menu. It is structured around four main components:

  1. Entries – contributions submitted via a topic or theme
  2. Comments – responses to published entries
  3. Templates – templates for moderation emails or notifications
  4. Tags – used for analysing your online debate

The starting point: moderation from your dashboard

On your project dashboard, you will find your moderation inbox. This inbox gives you an at-a-glance overview of:

  • the number of entries in your project, grouped by moderation status
  • the number of comments in your project, grouped by moderation status
  • moderation tasks: comments that require your attention

Click Moderate entries, Moderate comments, or Moderation tasks to get started.

Moderating entries

When a participant submits an entry to your project, it does not appear immediately on the platform. Newly submitted entries automatically receive two labels:

  • Not visible
  • Not moderated

As a result, the entry appears in your list of entries to be moderated. This is the default view of the moderation module.

Use the filters at the top of the screen to refine this view and search for other entries. You can filter by, among others:

  • visibility
  • moderation status
  • tags
  • topics
  • keywords (author, ID, or content)

Default filter view: non-visible entries awaiting moderation

Click on an entry to start moderating it. What actions you can or should take is explained here: How to moderate the entries of users?

Moderating comments

When a participant submits a comment, it does appear immediately on the platform. However, Bpart (AI) or other users can flag a comment as potentially inappropriate. As a result, a newly submitted comment has three underlying labels:

  • Visible
  • Not moderated
  • Potentially inappropriate (yes/no)

Comments that are flagged as potentially inappropriate appear as moderation tasks on your dashboard and on the start screen of the comment moderation module. These are comments that Bpart (AI) or other users believe should be reviewed.

All other comments can be found using similar filters in the second tab of the comment moderation module.
