How do you choose the right fields for your form?
When involving participants in your project via the interactive modules of Bpart, you are using our "form builder". The form builder provides you with different types of questions you can use. Selecting the right field depends on the input you want to receive from the citizen.
The different fields:
Short text
Long text
Checkbox
Checkboxes
Radio
Select
Image
File
Map
Discover here how to add the fields to your form
The Short Text field allows you to ask your participants for short answers. On the form, approximately one line of space is provided for the field. This field is used, for example, when asking for: name, address, telephone number, title of your idea, a comment, a short description ...
The Long Text field is used when you expect longer answers from your users. On the form, a Long Text field is provided with about 2 lines of space. The field can be used for e.g. a description of an idea, a motivation for a proposal ...
When you want to let users tick an option, you choose the field Checkbox.
The Checkbox field is used for example for: accepting conditions, subscribing to a newsletter ...
If a user may indicate several options, it is best to use the field Checkboxes. Examples of questions for Checkboxes are: "Which means of transport do you use?", "Which topics are you interested in?" ...
If a user can only choose one of the options and you want to display all options on the form, use the Radio field. We recommend only using this when there are not that many different options so that your form does not become too long. You can use the radio field for example to indicate the (sub)municipality where you live, to indicate a favourite theme, to indicate your gender, to answer yes/no questions ...
The outcome is similar to radio buttons: a participant can only choose one option. In this case, participants choose their preferred option using a dropdown list. The list of options is thus only visible, after clicking on the dropdown list.
The Image field is added to your form when your users are allowed to add an image to their contributions. The image file types that users can upload are: JPEG and PNG.
If you want to give users the opportunity to add a document to their contribution, you can use the File field. The file types that users can upload are: text files, presentations, spreadsheet files, PDF files ...
You add the field Map to your form when users want to add a location to their contributions. This field can be very useful for e.g. indicating a location for a new bank, indicating a mobility problem, registering your garden, registering a planted tree ...
You can do a lot of cool stuff with our interactive map, discover it here.
